When you have reached "THAT POINT"!

You know what I am talking about. You are starting to feel the impact of the stress and constant demands that is inherent to your profession as a Doctor. You are starting to feel like you are NOT invincible anymore or that you can't do what you used to do because some aspect of your health is not up to 100% of what it used to be (e.g., maybe you have gained weight, have high blood pressure, can't sleep, always tired and run down, you're more irritable, you have excessive headaches or are experiencing unusual pain, etc. ... the list can go on, but you get it ... you're just not at the "top of your game"!)

You don't want to admit it to your fellow colleagues or your family or even to yourself but YOU KNOW it has REACHED THAT POINT where you need to DO SOMETHING to bring back that energy, stamina and INVINCIBLE feeling that you once had. You want that feeling again. But something inside of you knows that you need to address your own overall health and well-being and do something NOW, before it's "too late" and you wished you did so something a while ago.

(You may have even thought about leaving your profession, as a Doctor, for a new career that is less stressful and demanding ... one that will give you more time with your family and be more conducive to great health and well-being ... but you don't want to do this because you don't know any other career that will be as lucrative as being a doctor. But that feeling, that "thought" is trying to tell you something. It's telling you to take at least one action step that will move you closer to greater health and overall life satisfaction!)

This is what my specialty is. This is my expertise... to help doctors, like yourself, implement effective life strategies that will help you to enhance your overall health and well-being and to feel invincible and happy with your overall quality of life!

So, give me a call today to schedule your complimentary, conditional consultation. Your overall health and well-being is just as important as your patients' health!

Doctors and Stress

Stress and Doctors ... seem to go hand-in-hand.

As a Doctor you deal with:

* Time pressures and demands
* Dealing with life and death situations
* Long Work Hours / not much "play time"
* Not many opportunities to share personal feelings -- no support systems to support you during stressful times
* Difficult and demanding patients
* Problems with no solutions
* Expectations to be indispensable and INVINCIBLE
* Financial Challenges
* Insurance Issues
* Politics within the Medical Industry and establishments you work within (e.g., Hospitals, etc.)
* Challenge to maintain healthy relationships with spouse and kids (when you're at work most of the time)
* Lawsuits
* Chronic fatigue
* Being Perfect all the time (after all, if you make a mistake with a patient, then what?)

This list makes me tired just reading it. But yet, you deal with many (if not all) of these things on a daily basis!

How do you do it?
How do you keep yourself going?
How do you stay healthy and maintain your energy level?

Saving lives is not optional for you ... it's what you are in this profession for.

However, how's YOUR life holding up?

Are you happy?
Are you healthy?
Are you full of passion for what you do and
can't wait to get to your office or go to the hospital to serve your patients?

Ask yourself these questions ... If you were going to a doctor (Ok, humor me ... pretend you were going to a doctor) and you knew that he or she was feeling the same way you do during those high stressful times, would you feel 100% comfortable with the decisions and the manner in which that doctor would handle you as a patient? Do you think that Doctor would be bringing to you his or her 100%?

#1 Would you want to go to a doctor who is stressed, tired, overwhelmed and unhappy?
OR
#2 Would you want to go to a Doctor who is managing stress extremely well and has a smile on their face all the time and is giving you their full undivided attention?

Being a perfectionist yourself, I am sure that you would expect perfectionism from everyone else around you too -- especially a doctor that you are going to for your personal health care.

So, would you want Doctor #1 or Doctor #2?

So, what are you personally doing to handle all this STRESS?

I specialize in working with Doctors who feel like their work lifestyle (STRESS, STRESS and more STRESS) is beginning to have a negative impact on their overall health and well-being. It's bound to happen... stress takes a toll on the body (it's not discriminatory against Doctor's bodies!). You know that as a Doctor. You probably see cases of it all the time.

However, what strategies are you implementing to manage your stress better? It's part of a comprehensive "wellness plan". Manage the stress in your life more effectively and you will improve your overall health and well-being. I am a Certified Life Coach for Doctors and this is what I help Doctors with.

Call me today at 541-686-1326 to schedule your complimentary, conditional consultation and begin the process of enhancing your overall health and well-being by managing the stressors in your life far more effectively.

STRESS and YOUR HEALTH .... they are highly negatively correlated with each other!

Rank yourself on a stress scale of 1-10:
1= I never feel stressed; I always handle personal and professional situations with a level-head and feel calm even when the pressures are abundant. I know that the choice I make to respond to a stressful environment is a key factor in how well I manage stress.

to

10= I ALWAYS feel stressed -- it shows up in everything I do! I feel tired, anxious, unhappy, overwhelmed and ready to "burst at the seams". All this stress is taking a toll on my health. I need to change something OR ELSE ... !

Did you score high on the STRESS SCALE? If you did, YOUR overall health and well-being is at risk!

If you scored a 5 or higher on this 10-point scale then do yourself a favor and call me today to schedule your complimentary, conditional coaching consultation!

To your Health!

Acknowledging your own illnesses

I know... as a medical student and then a practicing physician, you have treated and read about every disease there is. Your a Doctor, not a patient, so you must be immune to diseases and health issues, right? Wrong!

With the schedule you keep, the stress you deal with on a daily basis, and the constant demands on your time & physical & emotional being, you are proned to just as many, if not more, health issues, than the rest of us.But most of the time, you down-play any symptoms you may have. You dismiss initial signs of health issues by saying "It's nothing serious" or "it's just overwork, the stresses of the job --- I just need a vacation -- that's all!".

Face it. You are a great doctor but not the best patient! You down-play your symptoms, put off consulting a GP, and self diagnose. I've heard the saying "the doctor who treats himself /herself has a fool for a physician". I am sure you have heard that phrase as well. Well, from the stories that I hear about, this is quite true.

So what are you supposed to do? Well, first off, acknowledge that you may be dealing with your own health challenge. It's not the end of the world, it does not mean you are no longer "INVINCIBLE" -- it just means you are human. Being human isn't so bad, is it?

So, where do I come in as a Certified Life Coach for Doctors? Well, I am not the GP you should be consulting with -- I don't give medical advice. However, I am all about assisting you to enhance your overall health & well-being by offering you invaluable tools to manage stress, maintain your energy level, and to help you to create a customized RX for Quality of Life (as I mentioned in my previous post). I have designed a comprehensive 8-month coaching program specifically design to assist YOU, the doctor, to improve your overall health & well-being.

RX for Quality of Life

Have you ever stopped to think about what prescription you would write out for yourself that would enhance your overall quality of life as a Doctor? As a Certified Life Coach for Doctors, I am passionate about helping you improve your overall quality of life! One of the things that is consistent for each of my coaching clients is that they are the ones that know what's best for them! However, prior to coaching with me, most of them have never taken the time to think about what their ideal life would look like. And if they have thought about it, they never put a concrete plan of action together to ensure that their "ideal life" was not just a concept, but their reality.

As a doctor, I am sure that you write out many prescriptions for your patients each day. Yes, these prescriptions are for medicines to make a patient feel better and ease the pain that they are experiencing. Some of the prescriptions work and sometimes you have a patient call the office and tell you that they still don't feel good, the medicine is not working. As their Doctor, I am sure that you want to get to root of the problem and help them feel better.

I am also sure that you know that a patient's illness can be far more complex than just prescribing one medication. There are many things that your patients can do to improve their quality of life that is independent of what medicines they are taking. Did you know that both of us (you as the Doctor and me as the Certified Life Coach) are in the same business ... making people feel better! We are just approaching it from a different angle. And I am a firm believer in a comprehensive approach to improving quality of life.

As a statistician, I am very well aware of the correlations and interactions between all the things that happen in our lives. The action steps we take, the stress we experience, the way we relate with others, all has an effect on our overall health & well-being. Heck, even our attitude as to whether a medicine is or is not going to help us can play a major role in whether we get better. That's why there is always a Placebo cell in a clinical trial!

So, now, let's talk about you.
What type of prescription would you write for yourself to improve and enhance your quality of life?

Think of all the areas of your life:
1) Career as a Doctor
2) Family Life (relationship with spouse, loved one, kids)
3) Money
4) Physical Environment
5) Friends
6) Health
7) Vacation -- Time off for you (fun, hobbies)
8) Personal Growth

The list can go on ...

Call me today to schedule your 25-minute complimentary, conditional consultation* to begin the process of creating your very own customized RX for happiness and quality of life!

(*I am happy to offer you a complimentary, conditional consultation; however there is one condition (hence "conditional" consultation). After the complimentary 25-minute coaching session, if I feel that we are a good coach/client match, I will stop and ask you at that time (after 25 minutes) to make a "yes" or "no" decision on whether you want to hire me as your coach. That's the only string that is attached with the complimentary consultation... you need to answer "yes" or "no" at the end of the consultation. If you say "yes" we can either continue the consultation at my hourly rate at that time and then schedule your next coaching sessions on a monthly basis or stop for that day and schedule your future consultations at my monthly rate. If you say "no", then no strings attached ... you received a 25-minute free consultation and we are finished with that session. It's that simple. )

Intention, Desire & Creation

Are you finding that the way your life is playing out is not quite exactly the way you planned it to be? Have you recently been experiencing so much stress and working so many long hours that you forgot what it means to have fun and enjoy your life, living it to its fullest?

As a doctor, it is highly possible that the above two scenarios are ones that you find yourself in. However, my question for you is ... What are you doing to ensure that you will be living your ideal life? If you have heard me speak at one of my events, you know that I firmly believe in the power of stating your intentions each day as well as getting real clear as to what your deepest, innermost desires are. I also speak about the power of your thoughts and the amazing impact they have on the quality of your life. You truly do create your reality! Do you know that?

Let me share a story with you that you may find a bit surprising as a Doctor. But is also very inspirational and leaves you with a sense of power and invincibility! This is a story from Napoleon Hill’s Think and Grow Rich book. He believed that true desire, not a hope or a wish, is the starting point of all achievement. He had proof of this in many aspects of his life. But one that struck me the most was the story of his son. His son, Blair, was born without any sign of ears and was diagnosed to be deaf and mute for life. Napoleon Hill immediately challenged this medical opinion. He writes of this moment “In my own mind, I knew that my son would hear and speak... I was sure there must be a way and I would find it… More than anything else, I DESIRED that my son should not be a deaf mute… Somehow, I would find a way to transplant into my child’s mind, my own burning desire for ways and means of conveying sounds to his brain without the aid of ears.”

What type of odds do you think the doctors were telling Napoleon Hill with regards to how likely his son was going to be able to hear, born without any sign of ears?

So, what do you think was the result of Napoleon Hill's efforts to ensure his son would hear and speak? Blair Hill was not only able to hear in later life via new electronic inventions, determination and research, but the young man also devoted his life to helping others who were hearing impaired as well. His father, Napoleon, went on to write “Think and Grow Rich”, the most famous motivational book in history …

So, what does this story mean to you? If you had the strong desire coupled with the unwillingness to accept anything less than what you truly desire, how would this impact your life, as a doctor, as a spouse, as a parent, as a person?

Before you answer that question, let me tell you about something else that will open our mind to the power our thoughts have on our current reality.

I recently rented the movie, "What the Bleep Do we Know?" It’s been out for a while and I heard a lot of buzz about it in the coaching community but didn’t get around to renting it until this past week. Well, I believe we see and experience things just at the right time -- just when we need to hear the message the most!As a motivational speaker and a life coach, I teach people how to use the power they have within them. One of my talks "Plugging Into the Power Within" is focused around this concept that we create our reality by the things we focus on with our minds. Now, does this mean that if you are sick or have an illness that it is all your fault? Absolutely not!

But, the quality of our thoughts can play a big part in how we physically feel and how we recover from illness and sickness. Many of the people that listen to my talks or work with me
one-on-one through life coaching know that focusing on the positives in their life can make all the difference in the world on how they experience their life. HOWEVER, as the movie said, "positive thinking" isn't the complete answer to everything.

If you sprinkle positive thinking on a bed of negative thoughts, will you create positive results? No! The challenge is to continuously work at removing that foundation of negativity that is underlying the occasional moments of positive thoughts that we have. Did you ever have a positive thought, but then a few minutes later had doubts, fears and slipped right back into the negative? Of course you have. This seems to be the way we are wired.

But, what is really cool is that we have the power to re-wire our brains so that any negative associations we have can be dissolved and we can form and create in our brains a new reality. This takes practice. It’s just like exercising. Do you get all muscular and lose all your fat within one day of exercise or within just one week or one month of exercise? I don’t think so. It takes a consistent routine and a true desire, passion and relentless pursuit to achieve the outcome you are looking for. (Napoleon Hill didn’t give up and he KNEW that his son would hear --- there was no other option!)

What if you were to take 10-minutes per day thinking about your ideal life - closing your eyes and envisioning exactly what you want in our life, feeling every wonderful sensation of having it! What if you were to make that picture so clear in your mind that each day you saw it in vivid color with your imagination? Would it happen? Would the universe know the difference between your current reality and what you are cooking up in your mind each day?

Do yourself a few favors this week:
1) Read the Book “Think and Grow Rich,

2) Rent the movie “What the Bleep Do we Know?” (many Doctors & scientists are interviewed
in this movie with scientific proof of it's message!)

3) Exercise your brain with visions of your ideal life for 10 minutes each day.

4) Call me today to schedule a complimentary, conditional coaching consultation to help you to start the process of creating your ideal vision for your life as a doctor, a spouse, a parent, a person ... whatever you desire!

I heard an advertisement today that said "Impossible is Nothing"! What does that mean to you?

Everything Happens for a Reason!

I know that this is true in my life. When I look back at all the events that have happened to me, I see the bigger picture. For example, when I was diagnosed with MS, that was the same day that my partner left the corporate world after 23 years. The very last day. And that night... BAM... I woke up with my whole right side with pins and needles.

There is no coincidence that it happened then. We both had the time and energy to go to all those doctors within the next few weeks and time to absorb this news. There is no coincidence that I got trained to be a Life Coach prior to my diagnosis -- there were lessons I had learned through the training that helped me to deal with the diagnosis better.It is no coincidence that I had a gut to move to the West Coast after being on the East Coast my whole life. I am here, in Oregon, for a reason. I feel more at peace. I feel at home. I feel more energized than I have ever felt before. My creative ideas flow to me effortlessly here. I am exactly where I am supposed to be.

There is no coincidence that I am now America's #1 Motivational Speaker for people with MS and a Certified Life Coach for Doctors with Health Challenges. If I never was diagnosed with MS, would I be doing what I am doing now, helping others the way I am doing. No, I don't think so! MS was not even on my radar screen before I was diagnosed. I didn't know anything about it. I just thought "MS" and "disability" -- quite the contrary for me now.

I think "MS" and "My Strengths"; I think "MS" and "more ability" ... ability to live life even more to its fullest -- than I ever have done before. Everything DOES happen for a reason! Sometimes we just don't know what the reason is and that's OK. I trust that "All is Well" even when it doesn't feel that way. I know that from every crisis, there is a lesson and opportunity.

And I know that "Life is Good" and I intend to choose to be Lovin' Life, even in those times of adversity. I will reach for the "feel good" feeling by turning my focus from what's NOT working to what "IS WORKING"!

It's Just Another "Bump In the Road"

Yes... a health challenge can be viewed as "Just Another Bump in the Road". The bumps can be big or small -- but they always have the other side! It's like looking up a mountain. One person may look at it and say "no way, I could never climb that and look down the other side". Another person may look up at that mountain and say "it's possible ... I know that I can do it! It may take some time and lots of training ... but it can be done!". These are two totally different attitudes that can be applied to any "bump in the road" that you have in your life.

I was just recently speaking to a fellow entrepreneur who went to the emergency room thinking she had the flu and it ended up that they admitted her into the hospital because she had an infection in her colon and possibly peritonitis or an abscess. I called her at the hospital to tell her that she was on my mind and that I was sending her lots of healing energy. She told me that she keeps on thinking about what I say about health challenges "It's just Another Bump In the Road"! She even told me that the image of my bus with the phrase on it "It's just another bump in the road", keeps on flashing through her head. Amazing! What a great thing for her to be focusing on. Now that's the type of thinking that's going to get her right out of the hospital. (If you would like to see the image that she has with the bus, just visit my other website at www.MSJustABumpInTheRoad.com and scroll down the Home Page).

I also told my friend that she should be working on envisioning the healing process in her colon (we discussed a process of visualization that really helps to keep the Mind/Body and Spirit connected and resonating positive energy!)

Your attitude is one of the key components in your recovery during any health challenge. Just keep on reminding yourself that "It's just another bump in the road"! See the other side of that bump. Envision yourself there already. Picture the healing process already occurring in your body. Do not underestimate the power of visualization and your thoughts. We have a power to create more than we could ever imagine.

If only we tapped into that power more often ...

America's #1 Motivational Speaker & Life Coach for People with MS!
AND America's #1 Certified Life Coach for Doctors with Health Challenges!

I specialize in working with Doctors and their families who are dealing with a health challenge AND Doctors who feel like their work lifestyle is beginning to have a negative impact on their overall Health and Well-being.

My Motivation for Coaching Doctors

It's been an interesting journey on how I came to be the expert for coaching doctors who are dealing with a health challenge. It started with becoming the best life coach & motivational speaker for people with Multiple Sclerosis! Then, I heard about this specialized certification coaching program, specifically designed around training the life coach how to coach the Doctor client. I thought "Wow.. what if I were to combine both my expertise of coaching people with a Chronic Health Condition with the knowledge I would gain from becoming a Certified Life Coach for Doctors!" A light bulb went off in my head!

After all, if you are a doctor, you know that dealing with a health challenge yourself can feel ten times worse than treating your patients that have the health challenge (that's if you even accept the fact that you have a health issue!). So, who's there to help you? How do you maintain a positive attitude when life throws you a health curve ball? I got to thinking that if I can help you, as the doctor, maintain your usual energy level and keep your spirits up, even while dealing with a health challenge, you will definitely be that Invincible MD that you usual are with your patients. Isn't that what you want? After all, you are held on a pedestal by your patients and by society in general. There's a reputation that goes along with being a Doctor.

A Neurologist that I used to go to just left his practice, due to his illness. We believe that he has Parkinson's Disease. I heard that his patients started transfering their records to another Doctor in the office without even speaking to him about it. How do you think he felt when this started to happen. Many patients don't feel comfortable going to a doctor who has obvious signs of a health challenge. As a doctor, you are supposed to be unstoppable, invincible, and God-like! But, let's get real, you are human too! Doctors get sick. Doctors have life challenges! Doctors have relationship issues! --- just like the rest of us.

I am so psyched to help you, the Doctor, to reduce the stress of dealing with a health challenge and to teach you concrete steps to maintain a positive attitude, increase your overall energy level, and enrich your personal & business relationships, in the face of dealing with a health issue.

Anything is possible. If anyone knows that ... you should. Sometimes you perform miracles. You heal people. Here's my question for you... are you aware of the power of your thoughts? That's one of the key steps that I will be working on with you when you hire me as your personal coach. I have always been told that my energy level is "off the charts". I motivate and inspire people beyond their wildest dreams.

If I can do this for many Doctors, then I am impacting many patients as well. For if the doctor shows up to his/her appointments feeling empowered, despite the challenges he/she is facing, then the patient wins as well. The patient will get the best of that Doctor and in turn will benefit health-wise. So, there you have it. My motivation for coaching doctors. Healing the doctor -- what a concept! It's a win-win for all.

Try this health affirmation on for size: "I'm a Lean, Mean, Healin' Machine!" I say it every night before I take my drug therapy for Multiple Sclerosis! Do not underestimate the impact of the words and the way you feel when you say it!

I know… you’re a doctor. You’re not supposed to get sick! You treat people. YOU are the HEALER. You are an INVINCIBLE MD!
But what about when life throws you a curve ball and you are faced with a health challenge? Do you still feel like that Invincible MD? Do you go to a doctor to take care of that health challenge? Are you in denial that you even have a health challenge to deal with?
Yes, it happens to all of us (even if you are a doctor). A health challenge can be Just Another Bump in the Road of life! I know. I treat the diagnosis of MS as just that! I am a Certified Life Coach for Doctors, with an expertise in working with doctors and their families who are dealing with a health challenge. (I am also America's #1 Motivational Speaker for people with MS !) You can check out my other website at www.MSJustABumpInTheRoad.com and see how I am empowering people with Multiple Sclerosis to live a rich and fulfilling life, despite being diagnosed with a chronic health condition. Bottom line ... if you are a doctor and you are dealing with a health challenge, consider setting up a complimentary initial consultation with me to discuss how I can help you to begin viewing the diagnosis of your health condition as "Just Another Bump In the Road" of life and to start creating a customized comprehensive plan to enhance your overall health and well-being, maintain healthy family relationships during this challenging time, and to stay invincible so that you can still provide the exceptional service you give to your patients!

Call me today at 541-686-1326 to schedule your consultation. You will be grateful you did!

Warmest Regards,
