Intention, Desire & Creation
Are you finding that the way your life is playing out is not quite exactly the way you planned it to be? Have you recently been experiencing so much stress and working so many long hours that you forgot what it means to have fun and enjoy your life, living it to its fullest?
As a doctor, it is highly possible that the above two scenarios are ones that you find yourself in. However, my question for you is ... What are you doing to ensure that you will be living your ideal life? If you have heard me speak at one of my events, you know that I firmly believe in the power of stating your intentions each day as well as getting real clear as to what your deepest, innermost desires are. I also speak about the power of your thoughts and the amazing impact they have on the quality of your life. You truly do create your reality! Do you know that?
Let me share a story with you that you may find a bit surprising as a Doctor. But is also very inspirational and leaves you with a sense of power and invincibility! This is a story from Napoleon Hill’s Think and Grow Rich book. He believed that true desire, not a hope or a wish, is the starting point of all achievement. He had proof of this in many aspects of his life. But one that struck me the most was the story of his son. His son, Blair, was born without any sign of ears and was diagnosed to be deaf and mute for life. Napoleon Hill immediately challenged this medical opinion. He writes of this moment “In my own mind, I knew that my son would hear and speak... I was sure there must be a way and I would find it… More than anything else, I DESIRED that my son should not be a deaf mute… Somehow, I would find a way to transplant into my child’s mind, my own burning desire for ways and means of conveying sounds to his brain without the aid of ears.”
What type of odds do you think the doctors were telling Napoleon Hill with regards to how likely his son was going to be able to hear, born without any sign of ears?
So, what do you think was the result of Napoleon Hill's efforts to ensure his son would hear and speak? Blair Hill was not only able to hear in later life via new electronic inventions, determination and research, but the young man also devoted his life to helping others who were hearing impaired as well. His father, Napoleon, went on to write “Think and Grow Rich”, the most famous motivational book in history …
So, what does this story mean to you? If you had the strong desire coupled with the unwillingness to accept anything less than what you truly desire, how would this impact your life, as a doctor, as a spouse, as a parent, as a person?
Before you answer that question, let me tell you about something else that will open our mind to the power our thoughts have on our current reality.
I recently rented the movie, "What the Bleep Do we Know?" It’s been out for a while and I heard a lot of buzz about it in the coaching community but didn’t get around to renting it until this past week. Well, I believe we see and experience things just at the right time -- just when we need to hear the message the most!As a motivational speaker and a life coach, I teach people how to use the power they have within them. One of my talks "Plugging Into the Power Within" is focused around this concept that we create our reality by the things we focus on with our minds. Now, does this mean that if you are sick or have an illness that it is all your fault? Absolutely not!
But, the quality of our thoughts can play a big part in how we physically feel and how we recover from illness and sickness. Many of the people that listen to my talks or work with me
one-on-one through life coaching know that focusing on the positives in their life can make all the difference in the world on how they experience their life. HOWEVER, as the movie said, "positive thinking" isn't the complete answer to everything.
If you sprinkle positive thinking on a bed of negative thoughts, will you create positive results? No! The challenge is to continuously work at removing that foundation of negativity that is underlying the occasional moments of positive thoughts that we have. Did you ever have a positive thought, but then a few minutes later had doubts, fears and slipped right back into the negative? Of course you have. This seems to be the way we are wired.
But, what is really cool is that we have the power to re-wire our brains so that any negative associations we have can be dissolved and we can form and create in our brains a new reality. This takes practice. It’s just like exercising. Do you get all muscular and lose all your fat within one day of exercise or within just one week or one month of exercise? I don’t think so. It takes a consistent routine and a true desire, passion and relentless pursuit to achieve the outcome you are looking for. (Napoleon Hill didn’t give up and he KNEW that his son would hear --- there was no other option!)
What if you were to take 10-minutes per day thinking about your ideal life - closing your eyes and envisioning exactly what you want in our life, feeling every wonderful sensation of having it! What if you were to make that picture so clear in your mind that each day you saw it in vivid color with your imagination? Would it happen? Would the universe know the difference between your current reality and what you are cooking up in your mind each day?
Do yourself a few favors this week:
1) Read the Book “Think and Grow Rich,
2) Rent the movie “What the Bleep Do we Know?” (many Doctors & scientists are interviewed
in this movie with scientific proof of it's message!)
3) Exercise your brain with visions of your ideal life for 10 minutes each day.
4) Call me today to schedule a complimentary, conditional coaching consultation to help you to start the process of creating your ideal vision for your life as a doctor, a spouse, a parent, a person ... whatever you desire!
I heard an advertisement today that said "Impossible is Nothing"! What does that mean to you?

Hi Maria,
I love the context in which you used the story about Blair Hill, as I also loved the story about him in his father Napoleon's book.
However, the book was written when Blair was still quite young. The tragic story of what happened later in his life does rather overshadow this inspirational excerpt.
Good luck with the search for freedom.
